The team management of Karachi Kings yesterday announced Eoin Morgan as the new skipper of the team in the absence of injured Imad Wasim. The English player is expected to lead the Kings for a couple of matches in Sharjah and if needed, go to Dubai for the first playoff to play his last game of the league this year as he has already informed that he won’t be available for the PSL matches in Pakistan.

England’s ODI and T20 captain told yesterday that he will directly go back to the home from Dubai to see his family and not travel to Pakistan. “Unfortunately, I am unavailable for the Pakistan leg of PSL. It’s been a very long winter for me. I have been away since December last year. I will go home to see my family,” he told.

Talking to the media after Karachi Kings training session in Sharjah, Morgan applauded the efforts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in reviving the international cricket in Pakistan. “Last year (PSL) final was a success. All the players who traveled, thoroughly enjoyed their time and I am sure people of Pakistan really enjoyed team cricket back there. More steps have been taken this year. We saw international game being played and more PSL games being played there, so, over the course of next couple of years, I think progression will be made,” he told.

He also mentioned the upcoming tour of West Indies in April and called it ‘progression moving forward.
