Nigar Film Awards, which had been the sole representative of the country’s film awards for nearly seven decades and had been initiated by Mr. Ilyas Rashidi, the founder of Nigar Weekly, have now been revived by his son, Aslam Ilyas Rashidi. Our very favourite real life celebrity couple Aamina Sheikh and Mohib Mirza will be hosting the 47th Nigar Film Awards, which will held in Karachi on March 16, 2017.

A star-studded press conference was held this week in Karachi which announced through a showreel, which traced the journey of Nigar Awards through these seven decades.

The conference was hosted by senior journalist, Shanaz Ramzi, who is also a committee member of the Nigar Awards. Among the other speakers on the occasion was Kashif Warsi, the MD Nigar Awards, who threw light on the preparations that have gone behind these 47th Awards. The show director Fahad Sherwani also spoke about the Awards.

The final speaker of the evening was Aslam Ilyas Rashidi, the flag-bearer and custodian of Nigar Awards who spoke about his father and his personal commitment to this project.

Celebrities from the film and showbiz world including Ghulam Mohiuddin, Humayun Saeed, Saud, Asim Raza, Mohib Mirza, Aamina Sheikh, Tipu, Sahir Lodhi and other were also present at the occasion. They all laud the efforts of Rashidi and offered him their full support.

It may be noted that for the first time in Pakistan, partner satellite channel, terrestrial channel, FM radio and music channels will telecast the awards simultaneously.
