In order to control slanderers and abusers on Internet, singer-cum-actor Ali Zafar suggested setting-up ‘Social Media Courts’ as a solution.

Taking to Twitter, Ali described how ‘Social Media Courts’ can help to handle people who spread negativity and fake news to defame others.

“What do you think about the idea of online social media courts?” he asked. “Slanderers, abusers & spreaders of fake news operating in the garb of freedom of speech instantly exposed for unethical, immoral and unlawful actions with facts and stripped off their self proclaimed righteousness,” he maintained.

Ali thinks that ‘Social Media Courts’ would be a quick solution to control negativity on the digital platforms than conventional legal recourse which can take years. “Reason being that in the current justice system, by the time the slanderers are brought to justice and exposed, the damage is done as the narrative that could be based on malicious intent or agenda spreads like wildfire within minutes &conventional legal recourse can take years,” he reiterated.

It must be noted here that Ali had faced social media campaigns against him during the Meesha Shafi harassment case.
