First-ever Pakistani web-series ‘Churails’ is all set to release at Indian streaming platform ZEE5 and its director Asim Abbasi asks the audience to be ready for ‘unexpected content’.
Speaking to Express Tribune, Abbasi expressed his excitement for ‘Churails’ which will put flawed and independent women to the forefront.
“The 10 episodes of Churails will portray the story of independent women who will make their way out of troubles themselves. Historically, the word ‘Churails’ has represented qualities that are seen as undesirable in a woman: courage, aggression, intelligence and sexual liberation. One often encounters this term being used women who are not the conforming, obedient type,” he said.
“The audience should expect the unexpected! I believe we have made a show that will keep viewers on their toes, always guessing the unexpected routes the story takes over,” he maintained.
Abbasi shared great experience working with four lead women of his webisodes including Nimra Bucha, Yasra Rizvi, Sarwat Gilani, and Mehar Bano.
“They are all powerhouses in their own right, and a show like Churails needed the four leads to be just that. All of them gave me months of their time for rehearsals and preparations, and really got into the skin of the characters, and I have no doubt that the audiences will see these as some of the best performances of their careers,” he praised.
Meanwhile, Abbasi also expressed excitement for rest of the four exclusive Pakistani web-series which include Aik Jhooti Love Story, Abdullahpur Ka Devdas, Dhoop Ki Deewar, Mann Jogi.
“For now, I am extremely excited to see what the other four projects are like. We, as an industry, need to make a long-term plan to achieve a common goal and to think collectively, instead of individualistically, this is a creative business, to be honest,” he concluded.
