Former cricketer Basit Ali has slammed Babar Azam’s captaincy after Peshawar Zalmi’s disappointing start in PSL 10.
Babar was dismissed for a duck in Zalmi’s opening match against Quetta Gladiators. In their second game against Islamabad United, he managed just 1 run before getting caught in the slips.
Basit Ali called Babar’s confidence “at its lowest.”
Speaking on ARY News’ Har Lamha Purjosh, he said:
“Getting out in the slips in a T20 shows extremely low confidence.”
Zalmi suffered a 102-run defeat after being bowled out for 141 in 18.2 overs.
Basit was highly critical of Babar’s decisions.
He said:
“Your decisions are hurting the team.”
He questioned why a bowler who gave just 9 runs was removed early, only to be brought back under pressure.
He also questioned Babar opening the innings while chasing a big total of 244.
“You reshuffle the order for strategy, then come in as an opener in a tough chase?”
Basit believes Zalmi should consider removing Babar from captaincy to improve team performance.
