Our society stresses a lot on children’s growth and development but ignores a very important factor i.e our behaviour towards them. They follow and imitate us , their characters and personalities are actually our reflection of how we treat them. Realizing this social responsibility, Blue Band launched a new campaign Achai Barhnay Do, which is a lofty idea to create an inclusive society for children we consider non exclusive.

Blue Band also recently joined hands with Special Olympics Pakistan and organized a fun filled event ‘Both Buddy & Me’ in Karachi. The race was conducted at Pakistan’s largest inflatable race course where kids were paired up in a buddy system with differently abled kids to finish the obstacle course together as a team. This promoted the idea of inclusive society and helped bring kids closer to each other. It also attempted to reduce barriers for differently abled kids through an opportunity to showcase their skills in sports and games.

The race did not just host kids, parents and teachers but also attracted celebrity couples including Syra Shahroz and Shahroz Sabzwari, Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed, Amma Sheikh and Mohib Mirza. Morning show hosts Nida Yasir, Faysal Qureshi, Shaista Lodhi and Amna Malik were also present with other celebrities including YBQ, Muznah Ibrahim, Adnan Shah Tipu and Zhalay Sarhadi. The race was hosted by Faizan Haque with special performances by Khaled Anam and Asim Azhar.

“This event not only brought the topic of inclusion to the forefront, but also provided the start of an actionable and meaningful movement about character development. Children are the future and we need to make every effort to nurture an environment where people of all abilities feel safe, included and accepted and are given a chance to participate to create a more tolerant and well-rounded Pakistan,” said the Director Foods and Refreshment Unilever, Farheen Salman.

Founder Special Olympics Pakistan Ronak Lakhani also expressed her appreciation for Blue Band’s initiative and told ‘This event has been a step towards spreading awareness. It helped us celebrate inclusion and spread the goodness. “Achai Barhnay Do.”
