The hottest and the most loved Chaiwala, Arshad Khan from Islamabad is not a Pakistani citizen but an Afghan national, claims National Database and Registry Authority (NADRA).

According to a report on Geo News website, sources in NADRA confirmed that Arshad Khan did not possess valid legal documents to cover his stay in Pakistan. After the report was published, Arshad’s Facebook page posted pictures of him receiving his Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) at the NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad. But, upon further investigation, it was found that he applied for a Pakistani CNIC using fraudulent documents, which he received in June this year.

The blue-eyed Chaiwala then applied for a Pakistani passport and it was then when he got into trouble. Upon scrutiny of documents, the office found some lack of evidences and put his passport on hold, however, using his celebrity status, he managed to put pressure and had his passport issued nonetheless.

In same report, Arshad claimed that his father migrated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1984 and worked there for 13 years before returning to Pakistan. He also maintained that he resides on the outskirts of Islamabad along with his family and was very much a Pakistani national but failed to furnish any proof of his claims.

According to Geo News website report, Arshad Khan is the son of Baaz Khan and Saran Bibi, both Afghan refugees holding Afghan Refugee cards according to NADRA.

Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Omar Zakhilwal, also confirmed on Twitter that Arshad Khan was indeed an Afghan national.
