Mehwish Hayat called out Twitter users who abused her on her comments related to increased sexual and gender violence.
While reacting to all the hate, Mehwish said abusers are just showing their mindset and nothing else.
“Though I did not say anything against the govt, we live in democracy & it’s the right of every citizen including myself to hold those in power accountable. Calling me names like slut & whore won’t stop me from practicing my democratic right. Just reflects on your own filthy minds,” she said.

The actor went onto add that such hate makes her stronger to speak on issues. “Little do they know that it only makes me even more adamant to continue raising awareness of issues that matter,” she penned.

It must be noted here that Mehwish questioned the government’s efforts to control physical and sexual abuse in the country. “Time for hashtags and slogans is over, we demand to know what the government is going to do to change the system. Sexual and gender violence and other forms of discrimination in a society cannot be eliminated without changing society itself,” she had written following the brutal murder case of Noor Mukaddam in Islamabad.
