During a recent conversation with popular actor Faysal Quraishi on his YouTube channel, actress Madiha Imam opened up about the challenges of long-distance marriages, advising young women to avoid it if possible.

Imam, who has personally experienced the complexities of a long-distance relationship with her husband, Arunachal Pradesh-based filmmaker Moji Basar, shared her candid thoughts on the matter.

“It was destined in my case, but if anyone has a choice, I always tell my friends not to opt for a long-distance marriage,” Imam explained. “It’s not easy.”

Imam shared that the distance often amplifies conflicts that could otherwise be quickly resolved in person. “Many times, arguments that could be settled by talking face-to-face stretch into fights lasting a week or two when it’s just over text,” she noted.

“Long-distance [marriage] is terrible. Of course, there are benefits, like the excitement of reuniting after some time, but the troubles outweigh the pros. I would rather live with my partner than rely on heart emojis to make up for being apart.”

Despite the challenges, Imam and her husband have come to a “practical decision” to prioritize their relationship in a way that allows them to focus on their respective careers when they’re apart. Imam explained that they have found ways to work on their bond so that distance doesn’t hinder their relationship or personal growth.

The actress, known for her roles in dramas like “Mujhe Vida Kar”, made headlines last year when she announced her marriage to Basar. Their intimate Nikah ceremony took place in Dubai, followed by a Valima reception in the Gulf city and another reception hosted by her in-laws in India.
