Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has praised Mohammad Amir for his outstanding performance against Babar Azam in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10. Speaking on a digital sports show, Akhtar said Amir “mentally dominated” Babar during the Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi clash at Gaddafi Stadium.

Amir dismissed Babar for the second time in this year’s PSL. Akhtar said it was clear that the pacer was targeting Babar’s weaknesses.

Shoaib Akhtar noted:

“Babar was struggling to even see the ball properly. Amir’s deliveries were hitting his head and body.”

Akhtar admired Amir’s quiet confidence and control.

He said:

“While the crowd chanted ‘Babar, Babar’, Amir was playing his own match inside the match.”

He also felt Babar failed to adapt to the difficult pitch. “The conditions needed patience. Babar should have taken more time to settle.”

Akhtar further claimed that even other Pakistani batters would have struggled against Amir’s bowling that day.

He added:

“When there is swing, Babar has problems.”

Amir’s aggressive approach was also praised. Akhtar said the intensity made the match more enjoyable.

He concluded by saying that Zalmi would have failed even with a low target against such disciplined bowling.
