Quetta Gladiators fast bowler Mohammad Amir has expressed his frustration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for ignoring him after the 2024 T20 World Cup.
In an interview with Geo News, Amir said he gave up his county contract to play for Pakistan. He claimed he spent from his own pocket to bring his trainer along.
Aamir said:
”After the World Cup, no one contacted me. If I’m not in the plans, then I’ll move on.”
He also defended aggressive behavior on the field.
He explained:
“Cricket used to be fierce. Mental aggression is part of the game. You rattle the batter to break their focus.”
Amir added that off the field, players remain friends and respect each other. He clarified that his aggression is always controlled and within limits.
Regarding Babar Azam, Amir praised him but admitted he is currently struggling.
He observed:
“Babar is Pakistan’s best, but he’s been in a rough patch. He’s arriving late to the ball, which affects shot selection.”
Amir also talked about Quetta Gladiators, saying the team is balanced. He noted some concerns in top-order batting but praised the bowling attack.
With the team now in Lahore, Amir said the conditions favor their lineup.
He stated:
“If pitches are batting-friendly, we have the firepower to score big.”
He also said the arrival of Mark Chapman and possible return of Usman Tariq will further strengthen the squad.
