Pakistanis tie hopes with Arshad to bag maiden Tokyo Olympics medal

Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has created history after qualifying for the final of Javelin Throw in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The 24-year-old is Pakistan’s first-ever athlete who has qualified for final of any track and field event in the Olympics. He finished third on the table with a throw of 85.16m in second attempt. India’s Neeraj Chopra (86.65m) and Germany’s Johannes Vetter (85.64m) were ahead of him.

The final event is scheduled for August 7. Meanwhile, Pakistanis from different walks of life are happy for Arshad who has given them hope to win the first-ever individual Olympics medal in athletics.

It must be noted here that as many as 10 Pakistani athletes took part in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. Apart from Arshad, only Weightlifter Talha Talib performed notably, finishing fifth in the 67kg category.
