The first look of Sajal Aly in her first international role is finally here, and people adore it! The highly anticipated romantic comedy, What’s Love Got To Do With It, will have its world premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, in September. A few pictures released by Variety showed the cast members, and Aly in pink, wearing a dupatta on her head and surrounded by probably family and friends of the character.

According to the publication, the film follows the story of a documentary filmmaker and dating app addict Zoe (played by Lily James), who still hasn’t found her Mr. Right, despite endless trials on dating apps. Her childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (played by Shazad Latif), is all up for an arranged marriage to a beautiful Pakistani bride, possibly played by Aly. Following his journey from London to Lahore, Zoe starts to wonder if an arranged situation might be how she’ll find love.
The publication also shared more pictures of the other cast members.
Apart from Aly and the lead actors, the film stars Shabana Azmi, Asim Chaudhry, Mim Shaikh, Jeff Mirza, Iman Boujelouah, Mariam Haque, and Sindhu Vee. Directed by Shekhar Kapur, the film is written and co-produced by Jemima Khan, who has previously produced notable works like The Case Against Adnan Syed and American Crime Story: Impeachment.

Speaking of her character Maymouna, Sajal shared how the character was full of depth. “I love to play characters that have depth and define the narrative of a project and I think I am very fortunate that my character Maymouna in my international English-language debut ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’ has also given me the same opportunity,” she said.
