Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has praised Shadab Khan for his recent all-round performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. Shadab is leading Islamabad United with confidence and consistency.
Speaking on a local sports platform, Akhtar said he sees Shadab primarily as a bowler.
Akhtar stated:
“I am more interested in him as a bowler. I don’t care about his batting.”
However, he acknowledged Shadab’s ability with the bat and applauded his efforts when stepping up during crucial moments.
Akhtar also spoke about the impact of a positive team environment.
He said:
“Players are shaped in dressing rooms and team environments. “If you make things difficult for them, their performance will reflect that.”
He described Shadab as a “very smart player” who keeps Islamabad United united.
Akhtar added:
“He doesn’t allow any issues to arise in the team.”
The Rawalpindi Express also defended wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan.
He said:
“Azam Khan is a very good cricketer who has faced unnecessary backlash.”
He backed Azam’s power-hitting and even gave him a bold piece of advice.
He said:
“If I were in his place, I’d make a documentary of losing 40 kg in 100 days and then score a century in 33 balls.”
He added a direct message to Azam:
“If you’re listening to me—and I know you always do—just do it and show the world what you’re capable of.”
