Former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has criticized Shaheen Shah Afridi for his lack of game awareness. He made the remarks during a post-match show in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.

Tanvir stated that Shaheen has all the skills but fails to use his brain effectively during matches.

Tanvir said,

“He has everything, but he doesn’t use his brain. He doesn’t know when to bowl which delivery.”

Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars suffered a heavy defeat against Islamabad United in the PSL 10 opener. Afridi gave away 38 runs in his four overs and went wicketless. Islamabad United chased a target of 140 with ease, losing only two wickets and finishing the match with 14 balls remaining.

When asked who should mentor Shaheen, Tanvir responded,

“Yes, coaches help create a game plan. But in the end, it’s the player who must adapt to the situation.”

He further added,

“Shaheen is a wonderful kid. He has learned outswing recently, but he lacks smart decision-making.”

Tanvir stressed the importance of reading the batsman and planning counter-strategies.

He said,

“You must develop new strategies. If not, you’ll face the same results repeatedly, just like Shaheen.”
