Former Pakistan captain and fast-bowling legend Wasim Akram was full of praise for Shaheen Shah Afridi during the PSL 10 final. While on commentary, Akram was visibly impressed by Shaheen’s inswinging delivery that nearly dismissed Quetta Gladiators’ skipper Saud Shakeel.
“It’s impossible to bowl this delivery, especially as a left-arm seamer. If it’s coming naturally, it means Shaheen has worked on it,” said Akram.
Early Strike Shakes Quetta Gladiators
Shaheen set the tone for Lahore Qalandars early in the match. In the first over, his ball zipped in sharply, narrowly missing the stumps and catching Saud Shakeel off guard. Moments later, Shaheen got his man — dismissing Saud for just 4 runs off 6 balls.
Momentum Shift After Strong Start
Soon after, Salman Mirza added to Quetta’s woes by removing Finn Allen for 12, bringing the score to 25-2. However, Rilee Rossouw and Hassan Nawaz formed a much-needed 38-run partnership, steadying the innings.
Raza’s Return Turns the Tide Again
Sikandar Raza, who had just returned to Pakistan hours before the match, made an immediate impact. He took the key wicket of Rossouw in his first over, keeping the pressure on Quetta. Rossouw fell for 22 off 11 balls, with Quetta now at 58-3 in 6.2 overs.
Gladiators Fight Back
At the latest update, Quetta were 115-3 in 12 overs. Hassan Nawaz had completed a brilliant half-century, supported by Avishka Fernando, who was playing a steady hand at the other end.
