A local court in Lahore has summoned Meesha Shafi and six witnesses in a defamation case filed by Ali Zafar.

The court issued notice to Meesha’s lawyer and directed him to bring his client and six other witnesses at any cost at the next hearing.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had granted leave to Meesha and witnesses in a harassment case and decided to listen to Meesha on legal grounds.

Apex Court’s three-judge bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam accepted Meesha’s appeal against Lahore High Court (LHC)’s decision which declared her and eight others guilty of defaming the male singer-actor for harassment.

It must be noted here that Meesha, on April 19, 2018, Meesha accused Ali of harassing her during a project. The singer filed an FIR against Teefa In Trouble actor. In November 2018, Ali rejected all the allegations and claimed that a number of fake accounts are involved in running the #MeToo campaign against him on different social platforms.
