Mehwish Hayat is the latest actress to have come out against controversial remarks being spread by YouTuber Adil Raja, following Kubra Khan’s footsteps. Raja, who alleged that certain actresses were sexually exploited by prominent political figures like General Bajwa and General Faiz Hameed, is currently facing legal action and severe backlash for his claims.

Taking to Instagram, Mehwish Hayat expressed her exasperation and plans to take legal action. “Today I went to court to send a strong message that will not stand for these vile smear campaigns anymore. This has been going on for some time – but the events of the last few days have hit a new low,” she wrote in her Instagram story.

“Criticize my work all you like – but no one has the right to defame my character. lam not the one to sit and let anyone use me as a pawn in their dirty political games! lam not going to rest until this is resolved. I am happy that the petition has been filed and the people behind this including all the trollers who are spreading malicious lies will be held accountable by the authorities,” she added.

She also thanked people from the industry who stood up for her and her fellow actresses. “It is such a shame that l’ve had to go to court to protect my dignity and reputation – is this what we have become? I would like to thank all those from the industry, family, friends and above all fans who have sent me messages of support. They have provided me with strength in what has been a trying time,” she wrote.

Mehwish, like Kubra Khan, has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) for immediate action against the culprits behind the smear campaign.
