It must be noted here that a lot of voices put weight on demanding royalties for artists after a veteran actor Naila Jaffery demanded her right while suffering from cancer.
“I am suffering from cancer for the last six years. Meanwhile, I have always thought about having no support from the government for artists, especially seniors and those ailing ones,” she was quoted saying.
“Earlier, when I joined PTV, I used to get a certain amount for my re-run dramas. But, later on, that thing stopped. The last drama I did, re-ran at least four times but I didn’t get anything for it. Authorities should look into it,” the actor added.
Senator Javed reacted on Naila’s appeal and assured to bring a resolution in upper house to support artists financially.
