The Information and Culture Department of Government of Punjab has issued a notification to suspend the screening of Nabeel Qureshi’s Na Maloom Afraad 2 after receiving ‘persistent complaints from different quarters. In a conversation with behtareen.pk, the director announced that he will challenge the ban in ‘court of law.’

“I have no idea what’s the truth but it’s damaging the industry,” answered Qureshi when asked what were the factors involved in the ban of his film. “Also, it is ridiculous after giving the certificate, they took off the film after 35 days of run,” he added.

The director also hinted about the possibility of factors involved from other side of the border. “Seems like funded by across the border to damage Pakistani industry,” he said.

NMA2 stars Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Javed Sheikh in leading roles and was released on Eid ul Azha after getting clearance from censor boards with no issues.

A month later, authorities in Punjab banned the film because, according to them, they received complaints. The irony is that Vice Chairman of the Punjab Film Censor Board Mr. Usman Peerzada in unaware of the situation. “I stand by with the decision my board took. If they have passed a film, it should not be recalled,” told Peerzada in an interview on TV.

Earlier, the film was banned from screening in UAE because of a villainous character Sheikh Sultan Baklava played by Nayyar Ejaz.
