Shahid Khan Afridi suffered lower back pain followed by a complete rest which leads to his unavailability for the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6.

Afridi’s franchise Multan Sultans and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have confirmed the unavailability of star all-rounder for the Abu Dhabi-leg of the event.

According to an official statement, Sultans confirmed Afridi’s unavailability and shared that Asif Afridi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has replaced him.

It is pertinent to mention here that PSL 6 remainder is likely to take place in the first week of June in Abu Dhabi. The players and supporting staff have already gathered in Karachi and Lahore to leave for Abu Dhabi via chartered planes on May 26.

The event will be played in strict COVID-19 protocols and there will be a zero-tolerance policy for individuals breaching the protocols.

Meanwhile, the revised schedule of the event is on hold as PCB awaits visa issuance to Indian and South African members of the broadcasting team.
