Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam voiced his confidence and commitment to delivering an outstanding performance at the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024, aiming to bring home the coveted trophy. Speaking at a pre-departure press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday, Babar expressed optimism about the team’s chances, noting that the players are focused and motivated to make their fans proud.

“We couldn’t reach the podium in the past two attempts in the UAE and Australia, but this time, we have the self-belief and the drive to go for the top,” Babar stated. The Pakistan Men’s team is set to leave for Ireland to play a three-match T20I series, with further matches against England in May before heading to the USA for the World Cup.

Babar expressed faith in the players’ ability to achieve their goals, assuring fans that the team would give its best effort to bring joy to Pakistan cricket supporters worldwide. “We will give our 100 percent to bring the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 trophy to Pakistan,” he said.

Responding to questions about fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Muhammad Ali, Babar praised Rauf’s consistent performance over the past few years, acknowledging his significant contributions to Pakistan’s victories. He also mentioned that Muhammad Ali, a promising talent, requires more time to develop his skills, noting that he struggled during the recent HBL PSL 2024.

Regarding team selection, Babar clarified that while he has a say, the process involves seven selectors. He assured that no player would face injustice and that Muhammad Ali remains on the team’s radar for future selection. He added that Aamer Jamal, a promising fast-bowling all-rounder, needs to maintain consistent performance in the T20I format to earn a spot in the national side.

The Pakistan team is ready to embark on its journey, with Babar Azam’s confidence serving as a source of inspiration for players and fans alike as they aim for success in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.
