During a press conference following Islamabad United’s triumphant win against the Karachi Kings, New Zealand batter Colin Munro spoke highly of his teammate Azam Khan. Munro expressed confusion as to why the talented batter has not yet secured a spot on the Pakistan team and commended Azam for his impressive 44 runs off 28 balls during the game.

The New Zealander expressed his admiration for Azam’s batting, calling it ‘amazing’.  impressive.” He also emphasized that his skills as one of the country’s top batters should not be overlooked and urged for him to be given a chance on the team.

“I don’t know why he’s not on the Pakistan team. I was just talking to a couple of other overseas boys. A lot has been spoken about his weight but my goodness, if he’s one of the best batters in the country, why not get him in there,” he said.

Munro also expressed his admiration for the team’s aggressive approach during the match. “I think the way we went out and tried to be aggressive and put the pressure on the bowlers was outstanding,” he said. He also observed that the wicket had a slightly uneven nature with some areas having grassy patches and some with bay patches, causing the ball to behave differently wherever it landed. Despite this, the team remained positive in their outlook and was fortunate to have a successful outcome.
