England team suffered a huge blow before three-matches ODI series against Pakistan after their seven members of the squad tested COVID-19 positive.
Reportedly, England’s captain Eoin Morgan alongside Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, and four staff members were tested COVID-19 positive and put into isolation immediately.
With just a day left in the ODI series, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had to change the squad as their authorities gave them a go-ahead with the series as scheduled. Ben Stokes made a comeback and got the captaincy whereas nine uncapped players were named in the revised squad.
SQUAD: Ben Stokes (C), Dawid Malan, David Payne, John Simpson, Jake Ball, Danny Briggs, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Lewis Gregory, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Dan Lawrence, Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, Matt Parkinson, Phil Salt, James Vince.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked its team to remain extra cautious towards COVID-19 protocols. The Green Shirts are currently busy in practice for the 50-overs format. They traveled to Cardiff today with a physiological edge.
Earlier, Pakistan had to play a weaker side of South Africa in ODIs and T20Is as their main players left to play the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1 and the T20I series 3-1.
