In response to BCCI’s failure to provide “acceptable reasons” to ICC’s technical committee for not playing against Pakistan, ICC has awarded full marks to Pakistan women for three match series. The series was scheduled to be played in October this year.
According to Cricinfo, “this means both India and Pakistan will have to qualify for the 2017 Women’s World Cup, with both teams falling into the bottom four of the championship’s points table.”
The ICC’s technical committee observed that Indian cricket board had not been able to provide acceptable reason for withdrawing from series against Pakistan, therefore, awarded six points to Pakistan women cricket team, two for each match.
“The Technical Committee has ruled that Pakistan will be awarded two points for each of the three games and, in accordance with the ICC Women’s Championship playing conditions, India shall be considered to have scored zero runs in each of the 50 overs in each of the three matches and that its net run rate shall be adjusted accordingly,” an ICC release said.
The series was scheduled to be host by Pakistan and the PCB was ready to welcome hosts in UAE.
