Misbah-ul-Haq, Wasim Akram, Mohammad Hafeez, and Azhar Ali were failed to convince Prime Minister Imran Khan over the resumption of departmental cricket in the country.
The cricketers along with PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and CEO Wasim Khan briefed PM Khan about the crisis caused due to closure of departmental cricket. PM Khan was told that a lot of players and officials lost their jobs due to the decision to close departments.
However, PCB’s Patron-in-Chief, who directed to close departmental cricket last year, was unconvinced to reverse the decision. “I tried hard to explain the importance of this new domestic structure to Misbah, Hafeez, and Azhar and I am confident that this new system will produce quality players,” the cricketer-turned-Politician said.

“See, when you enforce a new system, it takes some time to adjust. I am sure once this system gets settled down, more players will come in limelight,” he added.
On the other hand, PM Khan expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s performance in the recently concluded England tour. The premier praised Hafeez for his performance in T20Is and also appreciated Misbah-ul-Haq for his efforts so far. Remember, Pakistan lost the Test series 1-0 in England whereas leveled the T20I series 1-1.
