Youtuber-turned-actor Arsalan Naseer faced immense criticism on Twitter after he criticized Pakistan women team’s performance in World Cup so far.
Arsalan, who proved his acting mettle in Ramadan sitcom Chupke Chupke last year, is quite famous for analyzing, bantering Pakistan’s performance in cricket on his YouTube channel.
In his latest video, Arsalan criticized women players, especially team captain Bismah Maroof who made headlines for managing mother-professional responsibility together.
Here’s how twitter was completely divided with mixed opinions on the issue.
Arslan is TRASH. This type of behavior needs to be called out. We live in a desi typical society where cricket culture isn’t same for women like men. They don’t play street cricket like them. Shame on you. Her chez mazak ke liye nhi huti @ArslanNaseerCBA #ArslanNaseer pic.twitter.com/2YcqMFHp7I

Why not same? They don’t get salary? They don’t have bat and balls?? The problem is they are not serious..

I so wish I hadn’t come across this video by Arslan Naseer, but unfortunately, I did. What utter trash! Before anyone comes out to defend him, he is not critiquing the performance of the Pakistan players here; he is downright insulting the Pakistan women cricketers. https://t.co/22zzVIcL8M

He has the same tone in every other cric comedy videos. Outrage just because he talked about woman cricket lol

This is not how to criticise. This is so condescending and disrespectful!!

Har jagah women card mat chalaya karo. Arsalan is very right here. You want equality (me too) but you should have guts to face criticism then. Want equality but don’t wanna face criticism. Mardon ko buri cricket par gaaliyan de lo to Khair apko respectfully bhi na kahein.

During schooling times, our female tchrs used to slap us for making mistakes. Yet we had to keep a straight face & didn’t use ‘mard card’ because we knew we made a mistake & still respected them. Similarly, one has to bear criticism on the chin, keeping spirit of gender equality.

India has a BCCI backed Women’s T20 Challenge which is a commercial league featuring international stars. Remind me again what do we have for our girls here? Instead we have our ex cricketers like Razzaq mocking Nida Dar for her appearance. So no situations aren’t comparable.

Kabhi inn cheezo ke liye aawaz utha lena, uss din samajh jayenge you care for your women’s cricket team or players.
Shayad ye bhi pata na ho.https://t.co/nW9riiDodf

These girls are not doing their private show.
It is national team of Pakistan and nation can critisize. You need to understand that they are being paid and facilitate all over the year by PCB.
They are not like private athletes.

Usually ignore YouTubers and stuff, especially guyd I have never heard of before, but turns out he’s got 100k+ followers on Twitter alone. You hear the content and realize k Pakistani cricket k discourse ki koi behtari mumkin nahi. https://t.co/f9La373Lz0

So he cant criticize women’s cricket because of gender? Lol its a sport. He can criticize and I totally agree with him.

Pakistan women lost all their three matches so far in the mega event. Their chances to qualify for next stage are very less.
