Quetta Gladiators’ owner Nadeem Omar advised suspended Umar Akmal to rethink about himself and try to focus on his cricket once the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gives the final decision on his case.

Speaking to behtareen.pk via video link, Nadeem said that the charges on Akmal are minor and he might get a fine or a ban for up to six months. “I think the decision on his case will come out soon and he might face a ban up to six months. I think after that he should be thinking more about himself and try to remain away from such stuff,” he said.

The Gladiators’ owner recalled the night when the whole incident happened. “We were called upon PCB at around 3 am and we knew something was wrong. We reached there and found Umar with PCB management. They showed us evidence and asked us to not play him in the opening match. Umar promised me that he didn’t do anything and later he was sent to Lahore,” he maintained.

Nadeem also urged youngsters to stay away from such things as this ruins whole careers. “There are a lot of examples of how such controversies lead to disastrous results. I would like to request all young players to stay away from such things and focus on just cricket,” he said.
