Multifaceted musician Ali Sethi will headline day 2 of City in Context with a specially curated live performance titled “Loki Kehnde” which will take place at the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore on Friday 2nd of December, 2016 at 7:30 pm.

Loki Kehnde (Folk Speak) will highlight the evolution of interconnected genres and forms of music in Pakistan; from songs of war, ecstatic qawwalis, rueful ghazals and rousing national anthems. Indeed the performance is an acknowledgement of Pakistan’s musical traditions which serve a variety of social functions, both reflecting and shaping the discourse of the land and its people.
The City in Context symposium endeavors to discuss and expand existing ideas and projects pertaining to the multifarious aspects of the urban realm, and to explore the wider connections that they draw with the world of art. The collaborative project will encapsulate three key sub-projects: Urbanities – Art and Public Space in Pakistan by the Goethe-Institut Pakistan and the Lahore Biennale Foundation; Stories We Tell (Aao Sunayein Kahaani) by the Beaconhouse National University – School of Visual Arts and Design (BNU – SVAD), the Centre for Culture and Development and the Lahore Biennale Foundation. It also introduces Lahore Biennale 01 through the first-ever public introductory session in Pakistan.
