Sajal Aly just wowed everyone on the red carpet of the UK premier of her film, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, produced and written by Jemima Khan. During a quick chat with the press at the event, Sajal and the whole cast were asked why one should watch the film, and here’s what the actress had to say.

“I think they’ll learn how to rise in love instead of falling in love. You know what I mean. But I feel like if I talk about my character, I feel that she is the face of thousands of Pakistani girls and South Asian girls. She is the face of them. And she is going to give strength and courage to all of them,” she shared.

For context, Sajal Aly plays a Pakistani girl who is about to be tied up in an arranged marriage situation with the male lead of the film, played by Shazad Latif. It mainly follows a filmmaker, played by Lily James, who decides to document her best friend’s (Latif) journey towards an arranged marriage to a Pakistani girl. The film oscillates between London and Lahore, and offers a beautiful amalgamation of love and friendship.
