Former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was dropped from the national ODI squad after sitting on the bench for a long period of time.

National chief selector Mohammad Wasim, on Wednesday, announced a 20-member squad for three-matches home ODI series against New Zealand.

Sarfaraz was replaced by the surprising inclusion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Haris who made his List A debut earlier this year.

The exclusion of the Champions Trophy Winning captain drew major attention on social media with people raising questions on the selection process.

It must be noted here that Sarfaraz was removed from captaincy and dropped from the team after Misbah took charge as head coach in 2019. He made his comeback in 2020 but got very fewer chances as Mohammad Rizwan became the first-choice wicket-keeper.
