Hamza Ali Abbasi once again questioned ‘Item Songs’ in Pakistani films being called as an art.

Speaking in his recent interview, Abbasi said demeaning a woman is not an art, neither from a religious point of view nor from a secular point of view.

“You don’t demean a woman on screen and call it art. Why are strip shows not art? In my head there’s a clear distinction,” he said.

It must be noted here that recently ‘Churails’, Pakistan’s first-ever web-series featuring bold content was made inaccessible in the country. The web-series got banned in Pakistan following a huge backlash from people over its content. Netizens think that there are a lot of other ways to promote women’s empowerment than using abusive language, alcohol, and smoking.
