Karachi Whites have emerged victorious in the National T20 Cup 2023-24, claiming a remarkable win over Abbottabad region by nine runs at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. The bowlers from Karachi displayed exceptional skills, defending their target of 155 runs.
Shahnawaz Dahani led the charge with an impressive performance, taking three wickets for just 16 runs. Despite the efforts of Atizaz Habib Khan and Fayyaz Khan for Abbottabad, who scored 43* and 23 runs respectively, they fell short, reaching 146/9.
Abbottabad faced challenges early in their chase, losing crucial top-order batsmen. Despite some resistance from the middle order, Karachi’s bowling attack, particularly Dahani, proved too strong.
In the first innings, Asad Shafiq’s Karachi set a target of 155/9, boosted by an aggressive 53 off 36 balls from Khurram Manzoor, supported by Omair Yousuf, Azam Khan, and Danish Aziz.
Although Abbottabad’s bowlers, Shahab Khan and Adil Naz, made efforts to keep the Karachi batters under pressure, their team couldn’t chase the target effectively. This victory marks Karachi Whites’ first-ever win in the National T20 cup, following six previous occasions as runners-up.
