Pakistani films to look forward as government opens cinemas

The government of Pakistan has decided to open cinemas across the country from August 10 following the improved situation and decreased number of COVID-19 cases.

With this development, producers and directors got a go-ahead to release their films sooner or later this year.

Here are few films which get the green signal for release:

The Legend of Maula Jatt

Starring Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, and Gohar Rasheed, The Legend of Maula Jatt was scheduled to release at Eid-ul-Fitr this year but got postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak.

The shooting of the film was completed and now with the news of cinemas about to open, the film is expected to release soon.

Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad

Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad featuring Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan also got the green signal for release. The film’s shooting had already done and it’s first look was also out a couple of months ago.

Money Back Guarantee

Faisal Qureshi’s Money Back Guarantee is also lined up to release soon after government’s decision to open cinemas.

The film’s shooting is almost done and it marks the return of Fawad Khan on the big screen while Wasim Akram and his wife Shaniera will make the acting debut. Mikaal Zulfiqar, Gohar Rasheed, Jan Rambo, Mani, and model-turned-actor Kiran Malik will also be seen in action in the movie.

Kahay Dil Jidhar

A tale of friendship, transformation and self-discovery, Kahay Dil Jidhar was also waiting for COVID-19 to end and now it looks like the film’s release date will be out soon.

The film features Mansha Pasha, Junaid Khan, Sajid Hassan, Atiqa Odho, Roma Michael, Kamran Bari. Film’s teaser had been released already and it showed Mansha playing as a fierce journalist and news anchor while Junaid a valiant police officer.

Tich Button

Feroze Khan’s last big-screen project Tich Button was all set to release sometime between Eids but due to COVID-19, it got postponed. Now, with cinemas opening across the country, it seems like the most anticipated film of 2020 will be out soon.

The film marks Urwa Hocane’s debut as producer and Farhan Saeed’s debut on the big screen. The other cast of the film includes Sonya Hussyn and Iman Ali.

London Nahi Jaunga

Humayun Saeed’s London Nahi Jaunga starring Mehwish Hayat, Kubra Khan, Gohar Rasheed is not ready at the moment as its London-leg of shooting was postponed due to COVID-19.

Now, with COVID-19 eases down, let’s see when the cast flies to London for the completion of their shoot.

Ishrat Made in China

Shot in Pakistan and Thailand, Mohib Mirza’s Ishrat Made in China was also one of the projects lined up to release on this Eid but unfortunately, COVID-19 ruined all plans. Most likely, the makers of the film will now think of releasing the film as soon as possible.

Mirza and his co-star from Bachaana, Sanam Saeed are the lead characters in the film while the other cast includes Shamoon Abbasi, Sara Loren, Ali Kazmi, Mani, Mustafa Chaudhary, Shabbir Jan, Imam Syed, Nayyer Ejaz and Hassan Sheheryar Yasin aka HSY.

Dum Mastam

Imran Ashraf’s debut film Dum Mastam is likely to be released soon this year as the film’s shoot is almost done. The film features Imran opposite Amar Khan in a romantic role. The film is written by Ehteshamuddin, the writer of Superstar.
