Cricket enthusiasts initially felt a sense of disappointment when they found that the ICC World Cup 2023 wouldn’t have an official Opening Ceremony. The magic of daytime fireworks would be missed, or so they thought.

However, fans are now in for a spectacular treat, with a special event planned before the high-voltage clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

According to Indian media reports, the ceremony is set to be graced by an array of superstars, including iconic figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and the melodious Arijit Singh, along with several other renowned film stars. This star-studded extravaganza is set to dazzle audiences in Ahmedabad.

The festivities will include a mesmerizing light show, a breathtaking fireworks display, and captivating dance performances, making it a spectacle not to be missed.

Anil Patel, the secretary of the Gujrat Cricket Association, confirmed that the ceremony is scheduled for 12pm, and around 20 to 25 Pakistani journalists, along with officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be part of this grand gathering. Patel also revealed that all preparations for the event have been finalized.

This unique ceremony comes as a replacement for the lack of an official launch ceremony for this mega sporting event. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took the initiative to organize this grand celebration just ahead of the much-anticipated India-Pakistan fixture to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket ground in the world.
