Suspended Umar Akmal opens PSL 5 doors for Anwar Ali

Umar Akmal’s suspension opened Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 doors for all-rounder Anwar Ali, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

Anwar remained unpicked during the PSL draft in December following his poor form. He had played 32 matches in the last four seasons of the league with 191 runs and 23 wickets under his belt.

Now, Akmal’s suspension by the PCB under article 4.7.1, which is all about corruption code and conduct, Anwar has got a call by Quetta Gladiators. PCB’s technical committee including CEO Wasim Khan, Bazid Khan, Marina Iqbal, Sameer Khosa, and Dr. Sohail Saleem approved Anwar’s inclusion in Gladiators.

It must be noted here that defending champions Gladiators will take on Islamabad United in the opening match of PSL 5 today [February 20] at 9:00PST.
