Zindagi Tamasha‘s director Sarmad Khoosat was overwhelmed after his film received Best Film and Best Actor awards at the Asian World Film Festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Khoosat said Zindagi Tamasha got a new audience worldwide despite it is banned in his home country.
“Winning two awards at the festival has given me and my team the right kind of morale boost and the emotional boost as well,” the filmmaker said.
“It has been a tumultuous journey with this film. Not being able to show it here in my own home country, it got banned. But finding this new audience for the film has made me believe more and more in the power of cinema,” he added.
It must be noted here that Zindagi Tamasha has so far bagged several awards and nominations at international events.
Earlier, the Pakistani government had directed to postpone the release of Zindagi Tamasha due to its content. The Ruling party, PTI’s leader Firdous Ashiq Awan had confirmed that they sought views of the Council of Islamic Ideology over the film before making any final decision.
