Keeping us in the dark for quite a while now, Sarmad Khoosat is finally showing us a glimpse of what his new film Zindagi Tamasha has in store for us. Not overlooking the brilliance that was offered by his film Manto, the trailer of this film looks like we are once again in for an emotionally charged ride.

The thrilling clip introduces us to Rahat Khawaja, a seemingly pious naat-khwan, and his family consisting of a wife and daughter. It also shows us how his life takes a turn for the worse as a heavy secret is revealed through, perhaps, a viral video, and how it affects his life and his family.

@nirmalbano says that the character of Sadaf was born out of a long list of don’ts or rather can’ts. It was final that Sadaf would have flyaways, messy hair, and even an occasional oily scalp. (Well guess what Nirmal, Sadaf has a tind now, Hah). She adds, that she is done with women in our films and dramas making sacrifices, also, if a female character is educated, dressed appropriately, she is granted the superpower to always be right. Sadaf had to imprudent. She had to be unforgiving. She had to have regrets. She had to have untidy hair. And that’s how Sadaf came into being. Zindagi Tamasha, directed by @sarmadkhoosat @khoosatfilmsofficial @khizer_sahab @saakin.music @fezedi @sundushashmi @fatimahsattar @kanwalkhoosat @alikureshiofficial Arif Hassan. Samiya Mumtaz.

Apart from the use of unconventional elements that Khoosat is known for, one thing that stands out is the stark use of Punjabi in the film. The content is meant to shed light on pressing political issues, including the misuse of the blasphemy law that persists in the society. Safe to say, it is not for the faint of heart or for those in search of a lighthearted film.

The film stars Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Qureshi in prominent roles. Directed and co-produced by Khoosat and with his sister Kanwal Khoosat, and written by Nirmal Bano, the film is scheduled to release sometime later this year. And for all those who are craving a breath of fresh air amongst all the masala entertainment, this is your fix.
