Only a single conversation with Saheefa Jabbar Khattak would make you believe she’s the literal embodiment of sunshine. In fact, you don’t even need to talk to her to know she’s on the road to achieve some great things in life. Already a success in the modelling biz, Khattak is all set to give her talent a try in the acting world. She will soon be gracing our screens in the widely anticipated TV serial, Beti.

According to the actress, the story revolves around a mother in a family that hates the idea of a daughter being born there. It’s basically the entire journey of motherhood and the barbaric hardships she has to undergo in a conservative society. Albeit conventional, the actress pressed upon how such a narrow mindset still prevails, despite the generation gaps. “It’s all real. People think this does not happen anymore, but it still does. I have seen it in my own extended family,” she explained.

Dabbling into acting again, Khattak feels it’s a very different ballgame.Acting is like cocaine. If you’ve tasted it once, you can never leave it,” she says. Emphasizing on how she was always on the lookout for challenging scripts, she said, “I never wanted to be the ‘cute girl’ in shows. I always wanted challenging roles, especially touching some social issues.” And her powerful role in Beti seems like the perfect fit.

However, this isn’t the first time the actress is seen raising her voice over social issues. Her social media presence is enough proof that she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. When asked about her take on all that’s going on currently, she had a handful of opinions. “People of this society are not ready to bear the truth, no matter if the topic is rape, sexual harassment, divorce, or if a woman wants to live life her way. They don’t want to talk about it, nor accept it,” she said, accentuating how people shouldn’t take these things lightly.

Beti has made the actress give her all into it. “It is a do-or-die situation for me with this project. If I didn’t do [good with] this project, then I would end up living the stereotype that models can’t act,” she said. And after Beti, she will continue with her account of strong roles, in her third project called Daagh. “In the first few episodes I am playing a twenty-something girl, and then I am playing a forty-something woman. So, I got to experience age and time-lapse with this,” she revealed about her upcoming challenging project.
