The year 2017 has not been much good for Pakistani cinema but still, we do get a couple of massive hits on big screen. The last release of the year, Chupan Chupai emerges as the biggest surprise package by mostly newcomers in the industry. The film gives equal screen time to all the actors and none of them disappoints. One of them is Faizan Khawaja, who stars as the son of a minister, plays by veteran actor Talat Hussain.
Chupan Chupai has actors, director and producer, who have studied their subjects. While majority of them are from National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Faizan has learned it in an acting school in India. “I have been to India where I got admission in an acting school where Naseeruddin Shah was my teacher and even Randeep Hooda used to teach us,” shared Bobby of Chupan Chupai in an earlier interview.
Faizan has made a very confident big-screen debut with Chupan Chupai and created space for himself in the reviving industry of Pakistani cinema. He not only resemble Na Maloom Afraad’s Fahad Mustafa but can be compared in acting with any big star of the country.
Because of his good looks and acting skills, he was also offered a Bollywood movie. It has already been completed but, thanks to the political situation on both sides of the border (take it as sarcasm), it won’t release anytime soon.
And now, the actor has brilliantly proved his skills on big-screen at home. Specially, towards the end of the film, when he comes out of his car as a politician – wearing Shalwar Kameez and black shades – and waves hands to public. This reminds us of Mahira Khan’s co-star Shahrukh Khan as Raees. There are many similarities between two of them at the end.
It would be too early to say that we have found our own Raees but, we can surely claim that Chupan Chupai has given the birth to another future star. May he proves us right!
