Pakistan’s leading actress, Mehwish Hayat is aiming to try her luck in politics for bringing positive change in the country.
Punjab Nahi Jaongi actor shared her aims to come into politics in Geo News’ program ‘Ek Din Geo Kai Sath‘. Speaking in the show, Mehwish said she wants to do something for the people of Pakistan.
“Politics is something I want to pursue as a subject,” she shared. “Inshallah, I will come into politics with an intention to bring a positive change in the country. Time will better tell whether that happens by entering parliament or by forming my own political party,” the actor maintained.
Mehwish further went onto share that she is inspired by the politics of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
“I’m inspired by [their] politics because they’ve brought about good changes and a shift in societal thinking. Imran Khan was a cricketer before [he entered politics]. If a cricketer can become prime minister then surely an actress can also become one as well,” Mehwish said.
“I don’t want to challenge him [Imran Khan] but someone is bound to take his place later on and I can also become a contender for the prime minister’s position,” she concluded.
