Pakistan’s Twenty20 captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been named as the new One Day International (ODI) captain of his team. The decision has been taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) just before the inauguration of Pakistan Super League season two. Ahmed will be replacing Azhar Ali for series against West Indies next month.
Ahmed remains quite successful in leading national and Quetta Gladiators in Twenty20 and this is the reason that many cricket experts are already in his favour.

According to PCB press release, Azhar Ali recently called on Chairman PCB Shaharyar M Khan and informed him that he wished to relinquish the captaincy of Pakistan’s ODI team mainly because it was affecting his batting form. Chairman PCB thanked him for his dignified leadership of the team and informed him that his standing in the team would not be affected by his relinquishing of the captaincy.
Under the leadership of Sarfraz, Pakistan played four T20s, one against Eng, three against WI. Pakistan won all of them convincingly.

After consulting relevant stakeholders, the Chairman has nominated Sarfraz Ahmed as captain of Pakistan’s ODI team for future series.
