Fawad Khan is fully immersed in promoting his new film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, these days. Amidst these promotions, the actor was asked about his brief stint in Bollywood, where he starred in films like Kapoor & Sons, Khoobsurat, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The actor’s Bollywood career was cut shortly because of the political unrest between the two countries, but Khan still has high hopes of working there again.
Speaking to Variety, the actor was hesitant in answering whether he wished to work in Bollywood again, given the tense situation. “It’s definitely made us very wary of answering such a question… It’s a good question but I can’t give a definitive answer until things stabilize between two countries,” he said.
Another reason why Khan held back was because of his non-confrontational nature as a person. The actor is known to keep a low-profile and has successfully managed to keep his name out of most showbiz controversies. He also shared how he cares about the consequences of his response, not just for himself but also for people across the border who wish to work with him.
“I think it’s more of a question whether someone else would like to work with me, instead of me working with others, because fingers will be pointed at them. I’ll do my work and go away but then the people who’ll have to suffer are those who want to collaborate with me. And I care about that because they are going to live there, and they’re going to suffer the consequences,” he shared.
He also went on to share how he’s still good friends with the people he’s worked with in Bollywood, and how he wishes to seem them again someday. “I have a great relationship with the people that I’ve worked with and made great friends. I would love to see them again someday, and maybe work with them again. Whether it be for an international platform, a Pakistani platform, or for an Indian platform. Mainstream Bollywood is a different ball game altogether,” said Khan.
Earlier this year, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt also shared how it was a great learning experience to work with Fawad Khan. The two starred in Kapoor & Sons together in 2016.
