Pakistani cinema has been going through a revival phase for last more than five years. A score of people have made their big screen debut in the fields of direction, production, acting, singing, etc. Many new ideas have been experimented but, there is still much room to play. Therefore, upcoming film Rangreza director Aamir Mohiuddin has decided to make one of his male lead dance on an item number.
You read it right! According to our sources, Gohar Rasheed will dance on an item number with 200 transgenders in his upcoming film Rangreza. The film also stars Bilal Ashraf, Urwa Hocane and Ghana Ali. This would be the first time that a male lead would be doing an item number, at least in past five years if not more.
The song has been sung by Asrar Shah with one of the music producer being on board. The crew has installed a very colorful set in Karachi to shot the item number. “The idea was to acknowledge transgender community in our society and show life from their perspective,” we heard talking one of the producers of the film.
Rangreza is a musical-romance film and aims to offer different music genres. Gohar Rasheed is playing the character of a Dholak player while the other male lead Bilal Ashraf will be seen a rockstar. Urwa Hocane is the love interest of the former while the later is the love interest of her.
This is the third time that Bilal Ashraf and Gohar Rasheed are sharing big screen together. Earlier, the duo made cameo in Zeba Bakhtiar and Azaan Sami Khan’s Operation 021 and later signed Yalghaar, which is expected to release on Eid this year.
Rangreza is being directed by debutant Aamir Mohiuddin, written by Akhtar Qayoum and co-produced by Usman Malkani and Akhlaque Mahesar. Josh Band’s lead vocalist Qurram Hussain and Hamza Akram Qawwal are composing the music of the film. According to our sources, the shooting of the film has been completed except one song, which the producer and director are thinking to shoot abroad.
