Pakistani music producer / curator Sharif Awan gets two nominations (for his project Indus Raag) in the Independent Music Awards held recently in USA.
IMAs are one of the top-rated indie awards covering worldwide music industry and professionals. Names of about 400 nominees for 80 categories were announced here in New York on 18th October 2016. The nominations are decided by international music industry ‘gurus’ as judges on merit basis and in a very transparent manner. The award-winners will be announced on 12th November in Lincoln’s Centre – New York.
Sharif Awan has been nominated in World Music and Special Edition Craft categories.
Sharif Awan has congratulated all participating artistes for their artistic excellence. He expressed hopes that such international recognition will be instrumental in promoting Pakistani culture and arts in the world community. He also expressed his gratitude for the Government of Sindh and corporate sponsors for actively supporting the project.
It may be recalled that previously the same producer earned a Gold Medal and a Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards announced in June and September 2016 respectively.
The Indus Raag project has also been accepted as an entry in the 59th Grammy Awards to be decided in February next year.
