Unlike every year, Ramadan transmissions this time around would be slightly different as a ban on celebrities hosting them has been proposed through a resolution passed in the Punjab Assembly. This unanimously accepted decision is being condemned by some, while others are in full support of it.

Actress Javeria Saud, who has been associated with religious programs on television one too many times, expressed her take on the matter.

“I feel we are fortunate enough to be chosen by Allah to convey his teachings [during Ramadan transmissions]. And even previously, whoever was chosen by Allah to deliver His principles to others, and to themselves as well, they came and did so. If Allah is the one to choose, then people don’t really have a say in the matter,” she said.

On the other hand, actress Reema Khan felt that the ban should be imposed on those personalities who cross the limits prescribed by Islam, regardless of their profession.

“I am unaware of such a resolution being passed. However, be it showbiz personalities, artists, or politicians, there are parameters for everything. Whoever crosses those parameters, these laws resolutions should be imposed on those [individuals]. Nobody is above the law,” she said.

Other celebrities, who have previously hosted Ramadan transmissions like Ahsan Khan, Fahad Mustafa, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ayesha Omar, Nida Yasir, etc, are yet to comment on the matter.
