The news engaged a number of people on Twitter who were having mixed reactions to this development. Few of them applauded the Minister for finally working on Pakistan’s own online video platform. Actor Humayun Saeed was also among the people who appreciated the minister.
This is such a great news! Thank you @fawadchaudhry and @MinistryofST for this much needed initiative. It will open doors of opportunities for many many talented people and eventually help Pakistan reach a truly global audience. Insha Allah 🇵🇰 https://t.co/d8vKJmCmEW

Zabardast @fawadchaudhry Bhai. Another step in the right direction.

Congrats, great initiative. But we still need Netflix to show our content on a bigger platform and show it to the world. India just released Mirzapur and whole world is going crazy for it. We need to do the same.

Wherever they went, they left stories. Mr. @fawadchaudhry I am very happy that you try to do something new in practice instead of talking. Congratulations 🎉

Meanwhile, few people think launching an OTT Platform doesn’t come under Chaudhry’s domain as Science and Technology Minister.
Does this really come into S&T ministry domain. F.Chowdry plz focus on things within ut domain. There is yet a mile of things that we need to catch on rather copying Netflix or its likes

What is your business with OTT? @MinistryofST should work for the propagation of science in the country. OTT (tech exists for 12 years) is a pvt market business. A ministry is not a pvt limited!

Fawad sir, If you do not know what you can do at your @MinistryofST let me tell you real issues Pakistanis are facing in Techonlogy

Meanwhile, actor Osman Khalid Butt voiced some other people’s opinions over the involvement of PEMRA in formulating the guidelines for the OTT platform.
Can someone – literally anyone else prepare this content guideline.
Let’s not forget PEMRA issued a show-cause notice to Udaari over ‘immoral content’ because it was highlighting child abuse. https://t.co/S6ZfuOJkUr— Osman Khalid Butt (@aClockworkObi) October 23, 2020
PEMRA wasn’t okay with Udaari for highlighting Child Abuse, it’s alright with dramas showing domestic violence. Fuck PEMRA. They can take OTT Tv to their graves with them, we don’t want it. Thank you. https://t.co/kqGXvmqXls

its totally useless if its controlled by pemra. it will be just another tool to manipulate public opinion or sas bahu soap opera…People watch netflix bcoz they offer high content and original shows

Alhajj-PEMRA shareef involved in our OTT = FAILURE of project
Sorry, but this is a fact u should have foreseen.
It will FAIL for Int’l & local audience alike & for the same stupid reason of involving Haji PEMRA marhoom— F.S.Ali_MAVERICK (@maverickfsali) October 23, 2020

sir agar is per bhi regulations hi lagani hain toh phir kya faida 🙁 pakistani creativity needs to be shared without limitations, koi EK platform toh dein 🙁

A couple of Twitter users suggested lifting PTV’s old content through this platform.
To start, digitise PTV’s old content and put it on.
