Senate approves bill for public hanging of child abusers

A Senate committee has approved a bill presented by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) for public hanging of the child abusers.

An interior committee headed by the former interior minister, Rehman Malik approved the bill which sought public hanging of the rapists to control this heinous crime in the country. The approved bill demand amendment in Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

According to the proposed amendment, “Whoever commits [child sexual abuse] be punished with death or imprisonment for life without parole till death and shall also be liable to fine.”

Moreover, the bill also seeks an amendment to Section 377 of the PPC, and proposed amendment reads, “Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any boy under 18 years of age shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life without parole till death and shall also be liable to fine.”

It must be noted here that last year protests against rapists held countrywide after a couple of rape incidents took place in Karachi and Lahore. Celebrities and people from different walks of life joined the protest to demand the public hanging of the rapists.
