LSA jury moves Ahmad Ali Butt’s nomination

The Review Committee of the LUX Style Awards 2016 met to take a second look at the film nominations.

The Jury discussed all outstanding issues and unanimously agreed to move Ahmad Ali Butt’s nomination from Best Actor to Best Supporting Actor for his role in Jawani Phir Nahin Aani. This action has been taken after Ahmad Ali Butt had sent a request to the LSA jury and requested them to move his nomination.

Interestingly, another vj turned actor Ali Safina had also expressed dissatisfaction over his nomination in Best Support Actor category but seems like it has gone unheard as there is no mention about his concern in official press release.

So someone who played lead gets nominated as a supporting lead and some one who played a supporting lead gets into the best actors category.

Following Butt’s footsteps, Ali Safina, also expressed his discomfort, over his nomination in the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category, on social media. He believed his role in Jalaibee was that of the male lead along with Danish Taimoor. However, the revised nominations do not mention his name in his preferred category.

The Review Committee decided that as the earlier process was by ballot voting, some adjustments had to be made to the announced nominations. As a result of the move Danish Taimoor climbed into the top five for his performance as the lead role for Wrong Number. The Best Supporting Actor category, this year, will include six nominations

For future consideration of film categories for LUX Style Awards, all Production Houses have to submit in their screener-film copies for all Jury members. The Copies should be supported by Film entrees for categories so as to avoid the placement of nominees in erroneous categories.
