Pakistan’s ODI and T20I captain Sarfraz Ahmed, who has been performing well for last couple of years, has expressed his excitement on leading the national team on the field. The wicketkeeper-batsman also compared himself to the other Pakistani captains calling himself as a more “aggressive and dynamic” leader.
According to the report by CricTracker, Ahmed condemned the Indian team for not visiting Pakistan, and also talked on the intense battle between the two arch rivals. “Maybe India is afraid that’s why they do not play us,” he expressed. “It’s always fun to play in a match against India,” he added.
In an audio released on the PCB’s website, Ahmed heard praising Pakistan Super League (PSL) for producing new talent for the national side. “PSL is definitely an advantage,” he told. “We have come after playing a T20 tournament and I think it has benefitted junior players a lot. Players are coming from domestic circle, like Shadab and Usman Shinwari were selected on this tour,” he recalled. “They are the top performers from domestic, who have performed in domestic and carried their forms in PSL,” he added.
He also added that a few players including Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal and Muhammad Hafeez have also played Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in West Indies which will benefit his team in ongoing T20 and ODI series.
The new ODI captain also accepted that he was impressed with Kamran Akmal’s performance in recent domestic season and that he is not in a competition with him for the position of wicketkeeper.
Ahmed told that he intended to lead the team from the front through his batting and wicketkeeping. “If I perform, the rest of the team will perform well,” he said. “I plan on taking all players on board rather than frightening them,” he added.
